Lent at Living Stone: Characters of Jesus' Passion

There are many people who interact with and are involved with the suffering and death of Jesus. Each one of them plays a part, whether they realize it or not. Throughout the weeks of Lent, we will see the providence and grace of God to test and build up his people. We will see how God works through people to accomplish his ultimate plan of salvation while they think they are working against God. All of these people point to Jesus as our Savior and teach us valuable lessons for our faith life.

Current Study: Hebrews

Hebrews reveals how Old Testament practices find their fulfillment in Jesus, directing us to depend on Christ completely for every aspect of life. Join us on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings in-person (or reply for the Zoom link 🔗)!

Community Table Food Drive Challenge: Sample Shopping List

We are doing a Food drive for Community Table Arvada throughout the Sundays of Lent. We have a big goal: collect 700 pounds of food. We currently have 70 pounds — only 90% left to go!

This is an easy way to serve and love our neighbors in Arvada. It's a chance to practice giving and sacrificing for those in need, just as Christ did for us.

📋 Here's a shopping list that would add 10 pounds to our tracker!

  • 1 can of black beans
  • 1 can of chickpeas
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 2 cans of tuna
  • 1 jar of peanut butter (16 oz)
  • 1 box of pasta (1 lb)
  • 1 bag of rice (2 lb)
  • 1 can of chicken noodle soup

Bring food items to church any Sunday during Lent and they will be collected, weighed, and added to our tracker! 🌡️

Easter at Living Stone: Help us prep to welcome Arvada!

Easter is right around the corner and we're preparing to welcome our community to worship and celebrate our risen Savior. Christ didn't just rise for a moment in history — he rose for you. He rose for Arvada!

We pray that we're able to meet new faces on April 5th. We're sending out postcards, running a few online advertisements, and we'll have ways for YOU to easily share an invite with friends and neighbors in the coming weeks.

Breakfast burritos, flowers, cups, creamer, and more have already been taken care of — thank you! See the link below for ways you can donate to help make our Easter breakfast a success!

🆕 This week's building FAQ

What’s happening with the building? There have been questions we have fielded over the last several months. Here are a few answers.

Q: What is the vision and purpose of our church & ministry center?

A: “Anyone can build a box.” One of the contractors we interviewed said that and it’s true. Anyone can build a building. The real question is “Why?” First and foremost, we want to do this all to God’s glory, to advance the gospel, and grow God’s kingdom.

Our ministry center will amplify our mission, “Connecting You to Jesus and One Another.” First and foremost, our facility will be a tool for ministry. We will use it for worship services, Bible studies, Kids ministry, Live Nativity, and other opportunities to bring Jesus to people and share the message of salvation.

There are NO churches in our northwest Arvada area. We have the God-given opportunity to be the first church to set up a permanent ministry home, centrally located at the busiest intersection in west Arvada. This location presents us with a great opportunity for visibility to thousands of people daily.

We envision our ministry center also as a place our neighbors can use or even rent for small or large gatherings. We are excited to see how God could use our facility to build and connect our community together through our facility.

The Lord is opening doors for us right now that we prayerfully and confidently want to step through with his help. God will do more than we ask or imagine. We are confident of that.

Q: What are the next steps in the building process?

A: Here’s a general outline for the next several months.

  • We will receive comments on our site development plan from Jefferson County the week of March 8. That will give us a clearer idea of site development costs we need to plan for.
  • We will have a couple presentations for congregation feedback and approval of the project & capital campaign in mid-March.
  • The capital campaign would happen in May.
  • Our hope is to move forward with construction this summer or fall depending on county release of permits.
  • The actual construction would take 9-12 months.
  • If all goes smoothly, we could be in our new building by the middle of 2027!

Normally we would say that boasting, i.e. bragging, isn’t a Christian virtue. Usually it turns into a very self-centered affair. However, you’ll notice in Romans 5:2, Paul says Christians boast. What? How? Isn’t that anti-Christian? Aren’t Christians supposed to be others-centered, God-centered, and humble? Here’s the neat...
